The stunning new fine jewellery collection from CHANEL.
There’s nothing more special than receiving jewellery at Christmas, whether it’s the extravagant type that’s keep under lock and key, or the hand-me-down kind with more sentimental history than monetary value.

As an avid ‘coffee table book’ collector, I can attest to their ornamental beauty. To be admired on Saturday mornings with a cuppa, they are also a brilliant conversation starter when entertaining. Some of the latest I’m lusting over for Christmas are below.

Peter Lindbergh: Images of Women, by Martin Harrison (Published 30th May 2013)

After buying trend-based designer shoes throughout my twentie’s and admitting a fleeting relationship with the ‘It’ shoe craze, I can now comfortably say my most beloved heels to stand the test of time have been the classics.
The striped elaphe, grosgrain and suede pumps from Nicholas Kirkwood have everything I’ve been looking for in a long term shoe partner. Heel height, toe cleavage, a subtle palette, a pointed front, a gentle nod to trend awareness through design detail and materials, and the kind European quality that won’t desert me and leave me begging my cobbler for shoe resuscitation.

It’s game on. So many hot sneaks out there so there’s the excuse to be comfortable AND stylish on the daily run around. It’s Jimmy Choo’s lace-up lace sneakers vs. Saint Laurent’s leather trimmed high tops. Or Margiela’s panelled beauties vs. Pierre Hardy’s glamorous take on a trainer. It’s ghetto for the feet.
Maison Martin Margiela suede, leather and mesh sneakers
Pierre Hardy leather, watersnake and felt sneakers
Jimmy Choo lace and leather sneakers
Saint Laurent leather-trimmed suede high top sneakers
All available at www.net-a-porter.com/
Isn’t it the most beautiful thing in the world!? Bottega Veneta’s ‘The Knot’ clutch bag is beyond regal in snakeskin, and has the price tag to match. This one behind has a limited edition porcelain medallion. Posh.
Find it at www.farfetch.com or via www.bottegaveneta.com
Art and fashion fuse together perfectly. Especially in the case of Sydney label Eager and Vane. The label’s director Sarah Vane Howell exclusively designs each print and there’s a style for everyone. You have to see their website to believe me. It’s a mush up of digital graphic madness but it’s beautiful to look at. Whether you like yours pirate style around the head, prim and proper at the neck or loose and in-line with your jacket lapel, all the shapes are available.
They’re the perfect gift for a friend for Christmas, as they come sitting pretty in a ribbon-tied black box complete with a signed authenticity certificate.
It’s not Dallas. It’s not Texas. It’s wherever you want it to be, and there’s no doubt there’s West on the mind…
Western elements have recently been popping up in unexpected ways both on the catwalk and off, and at the recent shows there was the Urban Cowboy trend rising up on the street in Western boots, embroidered shirts and low-slung belts. Keep the look relaxed and effortless in slouchy denims, print tees, leather jackets and boots. For a sexier interpretation of the trend, layer Western elements with femme fatale ones like sparkles, fitted leather or satin. It was a cold morning on Melbourne Cup day on one of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, and the rain and wind were undecided about their direction and strength- but it was also 15 year old Lydia’s first EVER photo shoot, and she wasn’t about to let the weather get her down.
She moves like someone who’s been modelling for years, it was hard to believe that Lydia had never sat for a photo session before. Ever…! The crew and I put it down to her Tahitian dance experience. Lydia is part Russian and part Cook Islander. It’s the make-up for her exotic features and strong build, and so it won’t be long until Victoria’s Secret casting director John Pfeiffer gets wind of her. Discovered by her hairstylist together with IMG Australia’s Danielle Ragenard, Lydia is destined for stardom. So fresh is Lydia to the modelling scene, she isn’t even currently on the IMG website as her images are still being developed. The future looks bright for her though, it’s onwards and upwards from here.
